SUMMARY:Plant the Park  Sept 27 and 28
DESCRIPTION:Want to help plant the park? This is event is hosted by the Town of Independence.  Cynthia Taylor and the permaculture group offered technical support and design and donated some of the plants. \nHere are the details: Please consider volunteering to help plant approximately 500 seedlings and shrubs in Independence Town Park on September 27th (afternoon) and/or September 28th (all day). We’re looking for approximately 20 volunteers who will be divided in to 4-5 planting teams. You don’t need experience – just a good attitude and a willingness to “dig in” (pun intended). We’ll take whatever time you can give us….and we’ll feed you well in return! Interested parties are asked to email Laura Ratcliffe (laura@independenceva.com) and Kit Marshall (kmarshall@independenceva.com) with questions or to sign up. Please include both as each are out of town between now and the event and we don’t want to miss your email. Thanks in advance!

SUMMARY:March meeting features new Town Manager Laura Ratcliffe
DESCRIPTION:Laura Ratcliffe will be joining us March 20th at 7pm at the GLC office. March 1st is Laura’s official start date as manager\, but she has already started work and has met with Rick and I several times.  I am very pleased to have her as our new Town Manager.  Given the continued interest in Town Park\, Laura will discuss that as  well as other projects on the Town agenda including the new speaker policy for council meetings.
