With Covid-19 cases increasing in our region, we made the difficult decision to close again until the risk of infection is lower. Even with our Covid precautions, it just felt unsafe to invite customers to shop indoors with even a small group of strangers.
However, we are determined to serve agency clients with urgent needs, such as homeless clients who have found lodging but have no household goods. We will do this by appointment through local agencies, such as DSS, Mt. Rogers Mental Health, and Emergency Services. That means we need donations of the following items, new or gently used:
- Blankets & comforters
- Sheet sets (please mark size)
- Towels (bath and kitchen)
- Shower curtains with hooks
- Dishes
- Silverware
- Cookware
- Small appliances
Donations hours are TUESDAYS 1-4 PM. Someone will be there to receive your donations. Be aware that we may refuse more things than we usually do, so the shop doesn’t get overloaded with non-essential items. In addition to the list above, we also want packing materials (bubble wrap, padded mailers, styrofoam peanuts, etc.) for a local business that ships with recycled fillers.
Thank you ALL for your support of the Free Market! We are so grateful for our volunteers and donors. We wish you all a safe and peaceful holiday season.
