Even though the Free Market remains closed to the public, we are working on two initiatives. The Outreach Section is open by appointment to clients of Social Service and Mental Health agencies in our area. We can provide dishes, cookware, silverware, towels, sheets and blankets/bedspreads to clients in need of those items. With the CARES grant received last month, we are stocking this area with some new items to fill in where donations fall short.
We are also starting a Medical Lending Library, where people can sign out walkers, crutches, canes, shower chairs, etc. and return them when no longer needed. Many people need these items temporarily (e.g., after surgery) and this can prevent their having to buy new items. Of course, we will thoroughly clean and disinfect items between customers.
YOU CAN HELP! Please donate (clean and gently-used) household items for our Outreach Section and medical equipment for our lending library. We receive donations every Tuesday 1-4, unless the weather is really bad. If that time is not possible for you, call Kathy at 276-266-1303 to arrange another time and we will meet you there. Thank you for supporting the Free Market!
