The Grayson Permaculture Group (GPG) is hosting the July Grayson LandCare monthly meeting at The Church of the Good Shepherd 9441 Grayson Pkwy, Galax, VA 24333 on July 18th 6 – 8p. Dinner is 6 – 7p. A tour of the Food Forest will be offered from 7 -8p. GPG will be grilling hamburgers on site for dinner. Please note the earlier time so we can enjoy dinner before the tour.
We are looking forward to showing you the progress that has been made in turning The Food Forest into a bio-diverse habitat to sustain life. As a gardening principal, permaculture is an innovative framework based on natural systems. In a broader definition, it is the design of an ecologically sound way of living – in our households, gardens, communities and businesses. It is created by cooperating with nature and caring for the earth and its people. Learn more about applying permaculture principals in your own garden and enjoy a full tour of the garden.
Join us Monday in August 15 at 7pm for a tour of the IES school Garden and Food Independence. In September we will tour New river Hill Farm and the new property that will become Grayson County’s first park with river access. October is our annual meeting, potluck and service auction at Cox Chapel Community Center. Local authors join us in November at the Grayson County Library in Independence for storytime. We close out the year at the Station at Elk Creek with our annual Christmas party.
All Grayson LandCare meetings are free and open to the public. They typically occur the third Monday of the month from 7-8pm and include a brief update on GLC activities and a presentation on topics of local interest. For more information about this presentation or Grayson LandCare, please contact Michelle Pridgen at 276-768-0597 or [email protected]
