Grayson LandCare announces the Business Challenge Grant.

Grayson LandCare(GLC) is excited to offer a new grant opportunity to already established or emerging businesses in Grayson County.  GLC understands the difficulties of operating and starting a business in our community and wants to lend a helping hand in the form of a $1,500 grant.

The Business Challenge asks Grayson County businesses to fill out a simple grant application explaining how they will use the money, how the business will meet the needs of our local residents or support our economy and how their business will benefit from the grant.  Preference will be given to businesses that will have the greatest positive impact in Grayson County, including hiring new employees, creating a positive environmental impact, or adding to the quality of life in the community.  The grant is a one-time award of $1,500. Grayson LandCare reserves the right not to award a grant in the event that candidates do not meet our criteria. The application must be submitted, either by email or US mail, to GLC by March 28, 2024.  We will announce the winner in mid-April.

Grayson LandCare also asks the Business Challenge winner to give a brief in-person presentation to the GLC board describing the impact of the award. “Since this is the first time we have awarded the grant, we really value the feedback from the winner.  Based on that input we may increase the funding level or make other changes” said Michelle Pridgen, Director of Grayson LandCare.  “We hope to make this a yearly grant program.  The goal is to announce the grant in January, request entries by March 1st and award the grant in early April. Then the grantee would give a brief in person presentation to the board in late September or early April.”  Pridgen added.

The application can be found here.

Applications can be submitted to Michelle Pridgen at director@graysonlandcare  or GLC PO BO 373, Independence VA, 24348
