Rick and Cynthia Taylor often offer a wildflower hike as an auction item. This year you can go for free! We are fortunate to have an amazing diversity of spring wildflowers in Grayson County, especially in the higher elevations.
We will meet at Elk Garden Trailhead at 1:00 pm, Thursday, May 7th. We will hike about 1 mile exploring the area. Expect a slow pace as we explore all of the wildflower diversity!
Afterward we will carpool to Grindstone Day use area to explore what’s blooming at a lower elevation and enjoy a (Bring your own)picnic dinner creekside.
Directions to Elk Garden Trailhead from Independence: Head west on US-58 W/E Main St, Continue to follow US-58 W 16.7 mi, Turn left to stay on US-58 W 15.2 mi, Turn right onto State Rte 600- Destination will be on the left 2.9 mi Elk Garden Trailhead Co Rd 600, Troutdale, VA 24378
