The Free Market received a grant from Grayson County from funds provided in
the first CARES Stimulus Bill to help local non-profits recover losses and cover
costs due to the pandemic. This will cover the loss of donations from the months
in 2020 that we were closed and the coming months until we are able to safely
open to the public again. It will also allow us to purchase a Carrier air
filter/scrubber that will remove virus particles and other contaminants from the air.
In the meantime, we are focusing on making improvements to the building and
serving the neediest among us with household items and small appliances. We
are reaching out to local agencies to let them know what we can offer, free of
charge, to their clients.
How can you help? Please donate dishes, glassware, silverware, cookware,
small kitchen appliances and utensils, bath and bed linens and blankets/quilts in
good condition and clean. You may also donate money for us to purchase the
items we need, by mailing a check to Grayson LandCare, PO Box 373,
Independence with “Free Market” on the memo line; or donate via the website
and specify the Free Market as the recipient: https://graysonlandcare.org/make-
a-donation/ . We are open to receive donations every Tuesday from 1-4 pm; or
contact Michelle Lintecum at [email protected] to schedule
another time. Thank you for helping us to help our neighbors!
