The Independence Farmers Market is moving forward with plans to open outside on May 14th. After a year of operating only Online it’s exciting to be able to take a step to returning to normal. For those who prefer, the Online Market will continue as well. It will return to it’s usual schedule of Wednesday afternoon pickup from 4-6pm and will remain at the office.
Due to diligent work by the Virginia Farmers Market association, vendors have been able to get the Covid vaccine. The only thing not resolved at this point is the location of the Market. The Town is moving forward with building Town Park this year and we are still waiting to hear if we can open in Town Park at the beginning of the season before we move to a temporary location. Vendors are voting on 2 possible locations. The Methodist church has graciously offered their pavilion area and businesses on Courthouse street have also agreed to allow us to close Courthouse street Friday mornings. Stay tuned and I hope to be able to provide final details soon!
