Your are invited to meet the contestants of the 16th annual LandFair April 20, at 11am at the Gate Center on Davis Drive. The focus of this year’s competition is the New River. Prizes will be awarded during the event. Come support our students.
The LandFair, previously known as the Land Stewardship competition, was started in 2008. The competition is designed to resemble a science fair. Its goal is to encourage local students to explore economic, environmental, and social problems facing Grayson County and suggest innovative solutions that can be applied here. Contestants are invited to think creatively about how we can be good stewards of our community and still meet the triple bottom line of sustainability―being economically successful, protecting our environment, and promoting community involvement and well-being. The competition is open to all students in the 9th through 12th grade in Grayson County, whether they attend public schools, private schools (eg, Oak Hill Academy), or are homeschooled. First, second, and third prizes are awarded each year through donations gathered by Grayson LandCare. During the pandemic, the competition took on a video format. Students are now able to choose the format of their presentation.
