Fermentation Friday returns to the Market on September 13. Carrie Gualt of Bird and Hopper Farm will host 2 demonstrations on preparing fermented foods. The demonstrations will begin at 10 am and again at noon. Fermentation is an ancient method of food preservation and fermented foods are a healthy addition to any diet. Fermentation kits will be available for sale and free samples will be offered for tasting. Here’s your chance to taste the wide variety of sweet and hot peppers at our annual pepper tasting.
Cooking Day and Squashtober
October 4 @ 10:00 am – 12:30 pm
This is the last Cooking Day for the season. We’ll be cooking winter squash today for Squashtober. There are so many different varieties and they are great keepers so you can enjoy eating them all winter. Samples are available and donations are appreciated.
October 11 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
The Apple Festival is a community-wide event that celebrates apple season. The highlight is a community cider pressing—bring your apples to press with our presses! We’ll have three-one just for the kids! The Market also offers fresh pressed cider for donation as a fundraiser. The apple dessert contest is always hotly contested and it open to any kind of dessert featuring apples. Please bring your entry to the Market by 9:30. Judging begins at 10 am. This is the last day of the outdoor Market. Don’t worry, you can shop On-line! Order from Wednesday evening to Monday evening and come by the Grayson LandCare/IFM office at 108 Courthouse Street between 4-6 pm to pick up your order.
