June events at IFM include First Friday Cooking Day with Chef Jen, the first “Second Saturday” Market and Kids Day.
June kicks off with First Friday Cooking Days with Chef Jen on June 7 from 9:30-12:30. Cooking Days were put on hold when the Market moved to its temporary location on Courthouse Street, we are thrilled to offer them again. Chef Jen makes delicious, quick dishes from whatever is available at the Market. Free samples are available and recipes are posted on the Independence farmers market webpage shortly after the event. Donations are always appreciated and help to fund our cooking program.
In response to community requests, the Farmers Market will hold the first of four “Second Saturday” farmers markets on June 8. Hours will be 9am to 1pm. The other Second Saturday Markets will be July 13, August 10, and September 14.
Kids Day will be held June 21 during the regular Friday Market from 9am to 1pm. Kids Day is the longest running event at the Market and always a favorite. Community partners joining us again this year include Ms. Laura with hula hoops, the ever-popular Cowboy Don and other free activities for kids of all ages.
