The Kids Garden program at Independence Elementary School has been a lot of fun this year. Thanks to John Alexander, Susan Mitchell and Ann Watson for helping. Working with the first graders has been a treat. The kids are always excited and curious and they are really good gardeners! They had successful crops of radishes and potatoes and we are picking lettuce and waiting on carrots to mature.
We covered the lettuce with a floating row cover and that was enough to get us through the cold snap. So far, the ground hog hasn’t made a return trip. Fingers crossed!
